Duplicam for iPad
Duplicam allows you to view and control the camera of one or MORE iPhones simultaneously from your iPad. This is way more than just a simple connection to your iPhone's camera. And offers more than any other camera sharing app in the app store…..

A for concept. C- at best for execution.
Certainly a great idea. And, for me the app and it's iPhone app works just fine. It is a bit slow, but it does work. The real problem with the app is in its actual design and how well the concept was refined before the author set about to work on it.
The first issue is the interface. Like too many apps, this one goes out of its way to be way too cute with all the cute details, sacrificing good design, a better user experience and a much better UI along the way. Why all the cute camera icons that take up too much of the screen? Over 30% of the screen is lost to large icons when a list would do and a huge product logo. Why have the right side of the screen with the very few controls right on the side intruding on the main screen space?
The second issue is execution. Note the size of the iPhone active window in the application is just a straight duplicate of what the user is seeing on the iPhone itself. There's no magnification or larger size, it's just a streaming screen capture with a picture border around it. The result is you get a small live picture on the iPad that's the same size as the iPhone. This is very disappointing. And, I suspect the programmer was working with some serious restrictions about what appears so I'm sympathetic to these limitations. But, from a user's standpoint I really wish it could be like the live camera feeds we get with Mac apps for SLRs like Canons and Nikons. A nice big screenful to judge what we're doing with the camera. That's what I was hoping for.
Maybe future versions can have some sort of scaling function or some way to make the streaming image bigger. Maybe it'll be better with the higher res iPhone 4. And, please get rid of all that worthless stuff that's surrounding the live picture area.
I'm sure this was a lot of work and I wish the author best of luck. Let's hope for a better version 2.0
This is a fantastic app! I was hoping that someone would create an app like this. I've been using it with 3D Camera Studio, and it's working perfectly. Instead of having to use a single camera/iPhone to take a photo, then moving it to the right, I can take two simultaneous images. The quality is great, and it's very intuitive. Great job!

I am a professional AV consultant and as big an advocate of all things Apple as anyone. I scan the app store each day and have invested a fair amount of money experimenting with titles so I can advise my clients as well as friends about what I feel is truly bleeding edge and what is a waste of time.
This is absolutely outstanding. If the connectivity can remain consistent, which was flawless the first and tenth time I tried it.
I'm blown away that it streams video. The picture quality is as good as the camera can record. IPhone4 will be brilliant! I would have happily paid $9.99. I hope the price goes up once everyone catches on.
I look forward to seeing more from this developer. Nice work!
Please give us video support.
